It has been forever since I have posted a blog, but I wanted to try and get back doing it. I have been extremely busy lately with school and working two jobs but things are going great my way. The Lord has really been working in my life and showing me a few different things, and I will keep you updated on those as I get back to posting more regularly. Don't be afraid to fail
I am back! I have been extremely busy since school finished for the semester, so I have been lacking on my blog, but I plan to update it more often now! Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday
I hope all of you have had a great week! I am excited about next week because my camps begin on Monday. It is the second year I have done my football camp, and I am very excited about it again this year. I had a good group of kids last year, so I am hoping things go well again this year! I want you to spend time with family and friends today and pray for Coach Al Schmidt. He is the head track and field coach at Mississippi State and he had surgery recently because of heart problems. Graduation Time
I hope all of you had a great weekend. I was not able to post a blog Friday because the site was down for some reason. I was able to speak at a high school graduation Friday night, and I enjoyed every minute of it. As I sat and observed the ceremony before I spoke, I remembered my high school days and all of the great memories that came with it. I am so thankful for all of the teachers, coaches, and administrators that invested in my life for so many years. I want you to pray for all of the high school kids that have graduated and will be graduating in the next couple of weeks. Statistics show that 80% of kids drop out of church when they leave high school, so I am asking you to pray that these graduates would continue to seek Christ and stay in church as they embark on new journeys in their lives. I think a lot of us get caught up in trying to please people, and we are setting ourselves up for failure by doing that. You should try and please two people, and if that is done, the rest will take care of itself. Please God and please yourself. Day in and day out a lot of us are worried what others are thinking about us and what others may say about us and it changes the way we live our lives. By doing that, we are setting ourselves up for failure in the end. Don't try and please other people because if you do, you will be doing that the rest of your life and never attain it. We Need Others
I am convinced that we can't make it in this life without the help of others around us. We need friends to help us with our struggles and motivate us to stay on the right path. Take the Time, Tuesday
I have been talking with a lot of people lately, and I have realized more and more that a lot of people have problems and struggles. Most of the time, everyone we talk to seems to be doing perfectly fine when they are really struggling on the inside. I want you to take the time today to ask someone around you if you can pray for them in any particular way or if you can do anything for them. Great Weekend
I hope all of you had a great weekend! I had a lot of fun at the Market Street Festival this weekend, and it was a success. Now that I have finished with Market Street, I am getting things ready for my second annual 3d football camp which I am very excited about as well. I am having one in Columbus as well as Starkville this year and you can check the site for the dates, times, and ages. Last night, I was able to see my longtime friend get ordained as a minister at my home church. It was so awesome to see a friend of mine continuing to pursue what God has for him in his life. I look forward to his future and the things God will do with him in the lives of other people. I hope all of you have a great week, and I wanted to leave you with a quote to think on.

Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday
I hope all of you had a wonderful week! Mine was great because I finished my first year of graduate school which was awesome! I am excited about this weekend because Market Street Festival is in Columbus, and I will have a tent set up selling shirts to help build a home in Haiti. It takes $1200 to build a house in Haiti, so all of the money made from the shirts will go towards that! I look forward to a great weekend. Take the Time, Tuesday
I hope your Monday was a great day and your week started off on a positive note. If it didn't make today a better day and finish the week strong. President Obama announced the death of Osama Bin Laden, and I thought about all of the military men and women that have given their lives for our country and they are not appreciated enough or recognized enough for their efforts and sacrifices. I want us all to take the time today to pray for all of our military personnel as well as their families. Because of what they do, we are free. I thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart because they are my heros. Continue to pray for the victims of the storms
I hope all of you had a great weekend! I was able to go to Mayben, MS and Smithville, MS Saturday to help clean up from the tornadoes that hit and I was amazed at the destruction. While we were in Smithville, it was crazy to see one house that was completely destroyed and the house next door did not have any damage at all. We had a lot of volunteers there to help, so we were able to get a lot done. After lunch, I went to Smithville to drop off some supplies with some friends of mine and the people there were so appreciative of the things we brought. They kept telling us how much they appreciated the supplies and our being there to help. As we walked around Smithville, I was in shock at what I saw. Houses were completely gone. Cars had been thrown everywhere. I had never in my life seen anything remotely close to the damage I saw there. My heart still goes out to that community and so many others that have been affected by the storm. I ask that you will continue to pray for so many and give your time to help because it is desperately needed. I hope you have a magnificent Monday!

Pray
I hope all of you have had a great week. I was not able to post a blog yesterday because all of the power was out in Starkville due to the terrible weather that came through. I wanted to dedicate this blog to all of the people that have been affected by the tornadoes that came through Mississippi and Alabama Wednesday. I have seen videos and photos that are heart breaking and mind blowing. My heart goes out to all of the people that were directly and indirectly affected by the storm, and I hope that you will join in with me as we pray for them and give them our time other resources as well. Make strangers your family by giving them things that they need in times like these. I pray that lives and families will be restored and God will give peace to so many that need it. Take the Time, Tuesday
It is exam week in Starkville, so things are very busy! Nothing like finishing a day with no brain cells left and having to prepare for another exam the next day. I want you to take the time today to pray for the teachers in America. Teachers have such an important job and they are often overlooked as an important profession. Without teachers, we would not be able to do anything. Pray that more teachers will see their role as an opportunity to really invest in lives and help build futures for the kids in the world today. He Has Risen
I hope all of you had a great weekend! I had an awesome weekend with friends and family as we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I was able to spend time with some of my closest friends this weekend, and it was great because we do not get to do that very often. I hope all of you reflected on the cross and the crucifixion this weekend because as Christians, it is the most important event in history. Christmas is always a great time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ but without his death, burial, and resurrection, everything is meaningless. We serve a God that was buried but the grave couldn't hold Him and now He is seated at the right hand of the Father. I watched an Easter presentation this weekend and there were two little boys that sat in front of me. I watched them throughout the play and their eyes were so fixed on everything that was going on, and I found myself praying for them. Praying that they would come to know Christ and seek Him with their whole heart. I pray that you will be encouraged today and no matter where you were or where you are right now, God loves you and He wants for you to come back to Him. I hope you have a magnificent Monday!

Grow
Last night at FCA, we had a guest speaker and he was very challenging. His love for the Lord and his knowledge of the Word was great and it challenged me. As Christians, the only way for us to fight the fight everyday is to have the Word within us. I wanted to list a few ways we can grow in the Word together as we live life.

Hurt People, Hurt People
I hope all of you had a great weekend. I was able to see our tennis team beat Ole Miss and our track team did extremely well also. Today's blog deals with something we talked about last night in our FCA bible study. I have seen more and more that people are hurting. Each and every person has a struggle or a problem that they are dealing with and most of the time we don't know it. Some of the people that are hurt tend to try and hurt other people because of the way they feel. What if the hurt people tried to be healed and in the process tried to help heal others as well. Things would be a lot different. I don't know what your struggle is today or what your problem is in your life, but give it to the Lord. Don't allow it to be with you anymore. Have some of your friends help you with it and lay it at the cross for Christ to carry for you. I hope you have a magnificent Monday!

Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday
I hope all of you had a great week! Mine has been great, and I was able to go see the Zac Brown Band in concert last night. They played here in Starkville at the amphitheater, and I loved hearing them. It is hard to believe that the semester is coming to an end. I want you to pray for the soldiers over seas and the ones that are serving our country that are not over seas. Spend time with your family and friends today and pray for them as well as their families. Today is the wonderful take the time Tuesday, and I wanted to make it fun today for everyone! I want you to take the time today to pray for the families of America and the relationships in America. I feel like so many people take marriage too lightly. It is starting to really bother me. I want the family to unite and begin to make differences in the world. I think one of the main reasons our world is in the shape it is in right now is because fathers have left the picture. We have kids raising kids. We do not have two parents in the home that are directing children in the way in which they should go. Take the time today to pray that people would begin to understand why marriage was instituted and that people would begin to take relationships more serious!

Choices
I hope all of you had a great weekend! I was able to enjoy Super Bulldog Weekend in Starkville and spend time with friends. After watching the spring football game, I can't wait until football season gets here in the fall. Today's blog talks about choices. Everyday you wake up, you have choices to make. The choices include what you will wear, what you will eat, what you will do, what you will not do, and the list goes on and on. Although most of the choices that are made may not have long term effects, some of them do. Each choice that is made has a consequence that comes with it. Sometimes those consequences are good and sometimes they are bad. I want you to start thinking about your choices more seriously. Understand that every one of your choices could have a lasting impact on your life, as well as those around you. Make good choices. Make smart choices. Mr. Mike Bogue
My blog from January 20th talked about the 10 people that have been most influential in my life, and today I wanted to talk about one of them. I will eventually talk about each one and why they have impacted my life, and I will start with Mr. Mike Bogue. Growing up and being best friends with his son, I was able to observe Mr. Mike a lot. I watched everything he did. I watched the way he treated his wife. I watched the way he treated his children. I watched the way he treated others. I watched the way he treated his parents. I watched the way he handled situations. I watched the way he lived his life. I watched everything because I wanted to be like him. He is a man that loves God, loves his family and loves people. He is a provider, a protector, a leader, and a man of God that I truly respect. Mr. Mike loves his wife the way Christ calls men to do so. Ephesians 5 talks about a husband loving his wife as Christ loves the church. I can honestly say Mr. Mike does that, and I am grateful for him in my life! Revival Message
Last night I was able to speak at a church in Tupelo, and I had a great time. I loved the pastor as well as the members in the church. When I got there, one of the couples from the church had us over and fed us a delicious meal. I wanted to include a quote from the pastor that was preaching the revival service last night and let you ponder on it. I gave my testimony to the church, and the pastor gave the message.

Take the Time, Tuesday
I want you to take the time today to pray for Nick Bell and his family. We had relay for life here on campus last Friday and raised a lot of money. Often times we easily forget things that happen to those that are close to us, and I want you to be praying for Nick's family today. Nick was a fellow teammate of mine that lost the battle to cancer last year in a short period of time. Although he experienced a lot of pain, he never let that be evident in the way he lived his life the last couple of months. He still smiled and he still made others feel good. I want you to take the time today to pray for his family. Pray that they will continue to be strengthened and healed as the days go by. Have a terrific Tuesday!

The Gift of Life
Yesterday one of my best friends had his baby boy! I was able to go to the hospital and see all of them and it was such a blessing. As I sat there and watched him sleep, I couldn't do anything but smile. I was able to hold him and talk to him for a little while and he could barely open his eyes. It was such a beautiful thing to sit there and just watch the little boy breathe. As I sat there, I marveled over life. His small feet, his small hands, his head full of hair, and his soft skin were just precious. It was so awesome seeing the gift of life before my very eyes. I thank God for the blessing of kids and yesterday was a humbling experience for me. I didn't want to leave him. I actually just wanted to bring him home with me, but I guess I will just have to spoil him whenever I can! Thank God for the people that raised you and took care of you!

Why Not?
Many times in our lives I think we find ourselves asking the question why? Let me throw this out there.. why not? A few years ago, I went to watch my little brother at a football camp in Tennessee. One day while I was there, I began talking to this man and we ended up talking for most of the day. He told me of a story about his mother and it has forever impacted me. His mother was diagnosed with a disease that I can't recall, but what he told me after all of this has never left me. He said he sat at her bed side and asked her "mother, why you?" I think we could all see ourselves asking the same question. What is awesome is his mother's response. She said "why not me?" Wow, right? What makes any of us exempt or free from bad things happening in our lives? We all deserve hell, but God has given us life because He loves us. After he told me this, I began thinking to myself why not in my life. Why not be the best? Why not have big dreams? Why not change the world? Why not leave a legacy? I challenge you to ask yourself this today. Why not you?

Godly Men and Women
I hope all of you had a great weekend! I enjoyed all of the activities we had going on this weekend with track, football, and baseball. I was able to go to the track meet and watch our track team do work for the first time in a few years! It was so much fun watching people use the talents that God has give them. Last night in our FCA bible study, we talked about various topics that were on our hearts. One of the topics that was brought up were the characteristics of a Godly man and a Godly woman. I feel like many men have the misconception of what being a man really is. Media and society have brought corruption into our minds and satan has used this to affect the lives of men and women everywhere. I want more men to step up to the plate and be Godly men. What does that look like? I am searching it out now, and I have come across a few verses that will help. I challenge you to search the Word and find out what a Godly man or woman looks like so you will know! Have a magnificent Monday!

Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday
I hope all of you had a great week. It was hard for me to get back in the swing of things after being gone on vacation last week, but I found a way to make it through. The Lord is really showing me His faithfulness lately, and I encourage you to take refuge in that. I know things can get tough for you, but just remember that God will remain faithful at all times! As you approach the weekend, take time to relax and enjoy it. While you are doing that, just thank God for the family and friends that you have in your life! Going Beyond

I thought this quote was a good one, so I wanted to share it with you. I want more people to set goals and expectations that are above and beyond the ordinary. Many times we don't know what we are capable of until we go into a situation and then finish it. I believe that if we knew some of the situations and things we were going to face in our lives, we would choose not to enter them. But, if we did that, we would never end up where we need to be. Believe that the impossible to others can be the possible to you. Don't allow other people or anything other than yourself stop you from achieving and finding the limits of the possible! Non-Profit
I have been thinking about potentially starting a non-profit organization that reaches out to people of all ages. I am still praying about it all and I am not sure yet if I will do it, but I am pretty close to pursuing it. I feel like there are so many people who live life aimlessly, and I want to try and help them gain a vision and pursue it with all they have. If you know of anyone that would be interested in helping me or if you would be interested in helping me, please send me an email and we can talk about it. Take the TIme, Tuesday

I would not mind being able to spend another week out there with all of the people I was with. I thought this quote was a good one, so I included it into today's blog. Many times we all want to make the people around us happy and that is not always best. Trying to please people is not always the best thing to do even though it may be hard. I have struggled with being a people pleaser, but at the end of each day, it is not about pleasing people but pleasing God and being pleased with yourself. Day 4
Well I ended up staying at the house in Breckenridge today and just being lazy but it was much needed. I watched the NCAA basketball tournament most of the day and did some washing since we are leaving tomorrow. I can't believe spring break is almost over, and we have to leave Colorado and head back home. I wish we could stay another week at least! It has been so much fun just being able to get away for a little while and have a good time with friends! I can honestly say I am not looking forward to the long ride back home! We actually cross through 6 states during our twenty plus house drive. I hope all of you wore your green today and didn't get pinched for St. Patrick's Day! Day 3
Well today was my last day to snow board for the week. I think I have said ski in all of the blogs this week, but I actually snow board. It was warmer today on the slopes than it was yesterday. I felt like I have gotten pretty good after a few days of practice. I am going to try and make it back out here again soon. I would love to try and come out here once a year in the future so we will see how that goes. We have eaten at the house each night, but tonight we are going out to eat at a famous pizza place here in Breckenridge. Things are still going well out this way, and I am enjoying the break from school and work. Tomorrow I think I am going to Denver for the day, so I will let you know how that goes!

Day 2
Well it was another great day on the slopes! It got pretty warm out there today and it is supposed to be even warmer tomorrow! My body is already so sore from the first two days and all of the rough falls I had. Today we went down some black diamonds which were extremely tough but awesome once you got to the bottom. We were on the slopes from 8 until 4 today and now I am extremely tired. Being on the slopes for that long is very tiring but well worth it all. The house we are staying in has a hot tub, so that has been very nice to come home to each day. I look forward to tomorrow because it will be jersey day and everybody is wearing the jersey that they chose to bring with them. I hope you are having a great week!

Day 1
Well, I woke up feeling a little better today, so I was able to hit the slopes with our group. Seeing the snow and mountains has been absolutely beautiful and just a reminder of what a great God we serve! The weather was great all day, and it is actually snowing right now, so tomorrow should be another good day. I know when I wake up tomorrow morning I will be very very sore because of all of my falls today. I had so much fun, but I fell so many times. Not only did I fall a lot, but I hit the ground pretty hard when I did fall. The group I am with has been so much fun and we have had a blast. I am exhausted from everything we did today, so I am about to call it a night. I will let you know how day 2 goes tomorrow and keep you posted on anything that happens!

Colorado
I hope all of you had a great weekend! After a 24 hour car ride, we finally made it to Breckenridge, Colorado. What a trip it was. We would have gotten here a few hours earlier, but our GPS system took us the wrong way. Once we arrived in Colorado, it began to snow and rain on us very hard for about 2 hours, so it made the last part of the trip even tougher. I have never had to drive in that kind of weather, so it was pretty difficult to get used to. We got to our house about 6 in the morning and went straight to bed. Today has been filled with eating, chillin, and just having a good time. I have not felt good all day, so hopefully I will get to to feeling better, so I can hit the slopes tomorrow. I believe I have altitude sickness, and I am here to tell you it is no fun! I will keep you posted on my trip this week and how things are going! Have a great Monday!

Grindin' For My State
I hope all of you have had a great week! I am so glad it is finally Friday and Spring Break 2011 has officially arrived! I will be heading out to Breckenridge, Colorado for a week with some friends to hit the slopes, and I can't wait. I am looking forward to trying to snowboard and just relaxing for a little while. Friday is family and friend fellowship day, but I just had to change today's blog to "grindin for my state." While I was at work yesterday, I read an article written by a teacher at Mississippi State. After reading the article I was so pumped up all I could do was thinking about ways I can grind for my state. Everybody Does It
Do you ever find yourself doing things alone and wonder if other people do it too? Well, I am here to tell you that everybody does. Many times, I do something and I want to ask other people if they do it, but I am worried they will think I'm weird or crazy, so I don't say anything at all. Well, usually that is. Every now and then, I will ask people anyways because I want to know and the only way to find out is to ask them myself. Do you ever do this? You are sound asleep and the phone rings. It is either your cell phone or the house phone. Once you wake up, you clear your throat and answer the phone like you have been awake for a little while. And then, whenever someone asks you are you asleep you tell them oh no, I have been up a little while now. Sometimes you will even say something before you answer the phone so you can warm your voice up before they hear you! Everybody does it so don't feel alone! Forgives and Forgets
I hope all of you had a great weekend! Mine was great although it flew by like usual! But hey.. a week from today, I will be hitting the slopes in Colorado for spring break so it's all good! Yesterday in church I heard a woman share her testimony and it was so powerful. I was able to see how God can work in one person's life, but I was also able to see how God can work in my life as well. Many times in life, we make mistakes and although days, months, even years pass on, we allow those past mistakes to define who we are. Satan is an accuser and he will do everything he can to hold you back from living the life that you have been called to live. By bringing up your past mistakes and your past sins, it only hinders you from doing the will of God. One thing I have seen is that each person has things in their life that can distract them or hold them back. I don't know what it is in your life that may have been haunting you and bothering you for a time period, but I want you to let it go. Understand something that is so awesome it is hard to comprehend.. God forgives and He forgets! Unlike us, He loves us so much that He will forgive us once we repent and then forget our sins as well! There may be something in your life that has held you back; I pray that you will let it go.

Perspective
Have you ever felt down? Have you ever felt inadequate? Have you ever felt like just giving up? If so, I have been there in my life and I want you to know that you can overcome these things. Many times in life, we find ourselves battling situations that we sometimes don't understand. School becomes hard. Relationships become difficult. Our family and friends are not what we thought they were. Our jobs are not what we want them to be. Our boss treats us like dirt. I want you to know that by changing your mind set, things look differently. I feel that life is so much about perspective and relativity. We will talk more about relativity some other time. Whenever you find yourself in a situation like this, just take a moment to remember that you have it better than someone else, and often times, you have it better than a lot of other people. We have all heard the phrase, "don't judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes." I think that is so true because your perspective may be one way about something, but you can't fully understand someone else's until you have been where they are. Keep fighting! Keep pushing! Change your perspective!

Grit
First of all, the movie True Grit is a good one. I like going to check out a movie in the theater whenever I can, and I saw that one recently and enjoyed it.
The man who makes success an important venture never wails for the crowd. He strikes out for himself. It takes nerve, it takes a lot of grit; but the man that succeeds has both. Anyone can fail. The public admires the man who has enough confidence in himself to take a chance. These chances are the main things after all. The man who tries to succeed must expect to be criticized. Take the Time, Tuesday

What a Night
I hope all of you had a great weekend! Mine was rather interesting to say the least. I have been having car trouble for the past three weeks, so I took it to the Toyota dealership to get it fixed last week and picked it up Friday. About three weeks ago, I came home and turned off the car and came inside. About an hour later, I walked outside to start my car and it would not crank. Since then, I have been multiple places and the car will just not start on me, so I have had to call someone to pick me up. After taking it to the dealership, I figured it wouldn't happen again.. wrong. Saturday night was my sister's birthday, so I wanted to do something special for her. I called her mom (my mom too) Monday night and asked her if I could take her daughter out Saturday night. After she said yes, I called my sister and asked her to go out for her birthday. The intentions of the evening were to show her how she should be treated by a man! I had it all planned out. I stopped to pick up the rose I was going to give her when I knocked on the door, and when I came back outside, my car wouldn't start. It wouldn't start for an hour and a half, so needless to say we didn't go eat until 7:15. I gave her the rose when I got there, we went out to eat, she opened her presents, and we went and got yogurt! I must say, things didn't go as planned, but I had the best time with my sister, and I love her dearly! Well, that was my weekend. Did you have anything funny happen you would like to share?

See You Later, Nicholas
I hope all of you have had a great week and have enjoyed reading about Nicholas. This is the last day the blog will be dedicated to him. He left our house this morning, and is no longer a roommate of mine. I must say, it hurts to even type that. I knew it would be hard to see him go, but I didn't think it would be this tough. Now that he is gone, it is almost like you lose a part of you since you have been together for a while. No more waking up and fixing coffee together. No more washing dishes together. (And yes, these things may seem a bit strange, but Nicholas and I are a great team. haha!) No more making sure the floor is swept. No more teamwork in taking the trash out. I told him before he left that things would be different around here now. And I can't forget one of the most important things. No more watching Nicholas and my dog, ella, play together. I can honestly say, the guy has done a great job with my dog. I say all of those things because they are true and I will miss them, but I also say them because it shows the type guy he is and the type of relationship we have. Last night, we threw him a final going away party and just enjoyed each other's company. There was a video made for him that had a number of people share what Nicholas meant to them and it was put together into a movie that we watched. Touching? Yes! Sad? Without a doubt! As Nicholas begins what will be a long, hard, and eye opening journey, I ask that you will pray for him continually. I want you to think about your life and the journey you are on or have been on. Reflect on that today and thank God for the things He has done for you! I am excited to see what God will show him along the way, and the man of God he will continue to become! I love you Nicholas, and I am more than excited for you and your amazing journey ahead! In closing.... "Aight man.... I'll see you later"

You've Changed
So as you all know, I have dedicated this week's blogs to Nicholas. I wanted to be a little funny today and share a story with you. When Nicholas moved in with me, he was a very quiet and shy type of guy. Well, things change. People change. Nicholas Schoenbachler changed. He transformed from this quiet, shy, and laid back kind of guy to a more loud, crazy, outgoing type of guy. Well, some of those may be a little much but you get the picture.. he changed! I believe these changes were due to someone else and the influence they had on him. That person, however, was not me but our other roommate, Paul. Next time you see Nicholas just ask him to tell you how he has changed. We have a saying that we all say in our house. "Man, you've changed." Or, tell him to tell you about the game "Back that Up." Or, "Oh yeah man... we'll see you later man." I have a lot of good memories and today's blog was just a glimpse of the way Nicholas has changed, for the good of course! Now that he doesn't have us to influence him on his journey, I wonder what type of people he will meet and what new sayings he will bring back with him. I must say, I look forward to it!

Take the Time, Tuesday
Well, I decided to dedicate this whole week to my man, Nicholas Schoenbachler. If you read yesterday's blog, you know he is leaving for the Appalachian Trail this Friday, and he will be gone for about 4 months. I don't think we pray enough as it is, and I don't think we could pray too much for him as he continues to prepare to leave. Imagine leaving your friends, family, and everything you know for 4 months to go alone in the mountains with a backpack and the world before you. I don't know about you, but that actually terrifies me. I want you to take the time to pray for Nicholas today. Pray for safety. Pray for provision. Pray for health. Pray for determination. Pray for strength. Pray for endurance. Pray for opportunities for him to spread the gospel on his journey. And as you take the time to pray for Nicholas today and the rest of this week, I would appreciate it if you would pray for him at least once a week until he arrives home. Write it down on a sheet of paper and put it somewhere that you will see often and just lift him up. Have a terrific Tuesday!

Determination
I hope all of you had a great weekend! Monday has arrived and we have to get back in the groove of another week! I spoke at a church a few weeks ago and read a sign that said determination is deciding it's worth it to finish what you've started. I was eating at a table when I saw the sign, and so I wrote the quote down on a napkin and brought it home. I thought it was pretty neat and very applicable as well. One of my roommates, Nicholas Schoenbachler, is leaving for the Appalachian Trail this Friday morning. Last night, we had a big get together for him with friends and family and of course some good food! Anytime food is present, it always makes me happy! :-) I know this word, determination, will be something Nicholas can use when he is on the trail. He will be starting in Georgia and finishing in Maine. I am very excited for him, and I know he is excited for the journey. As he prepares to hit the trail, I want you to join with me to pray for him. I know it is hard for him to leave his friends, family, and his girlfriend behind, but it is something he has wanted to do for a while! Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday

Roads to Success
Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak at New Hope Middle School, and we all had a great time! I had a couple of the students teach me how to dougie, but I believe I need some more practice. I guess I will keep working on it myself, and hopefully I will get better. That's what I tell myself at least. The three roads to success were respect, responsibility, and self-control. While riding in a car, we see signs, lines, and lights that help us get to our destination and also keep us safe. Similar to the signs, lines, and lights, respect, responsibility, and self-control are roads that will help set us up for success in life. I challenged the students to believe in themselves because if they don't believe in themselves, they do not have a chance! I made them repeat after me: I can and I will be Successful! I enjoyed my time talking, but getting to dougie sure was a lot of fun as well! Have a great day and remember... You can and will be successful if you believe it!

Don't be a Leader; be a Great Leader

I enjoy getting quotes from Honest Abe himself. His quotes are so true and so challenging! Being a leader is not always an easy task, but someone has to do it. Leaders are not always seen as individuals that are people pleasers but they often lead in a way that will eventually please the people. When I think of a leader, I think of someone that can lead other people to a place or position. Although this may be true, many times the leaders are leading the people to a place they already want to be. But what about a great leader? A person that leads people not where they want to be but where they ought to be. Now this type of leader is a little different in my opinion. This type of leader, a great leader, must still lead in a way that allows others to follow that lead and in the journey, they end up at a place they never thought they would be. Why? Take the Time, Tuesday
I hope you had a great Valentine's Day, and if you didn't, it is over now so let's make today a great day! I want you to take the time to relax for at least 15 minutes and do nothing but listen! Sit in a chair, sit on the couch, lay in bed, sit outside, or anywhere else that is comfortable to you. While you sit or lay just let God speak to you. Many times we are always doing the talking when we pray, and we never allow God to really speak to us. God wants to take the time to talk to us so often, but we fail to listen. Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope all of you had a great weekend! I want to say thank you to all of you that were able to attend the first "Begin to Believe" event at Columbus High School. I really enjoyed the night and getting the opportunity to talk with the people that were able to make it. Well today is Valentine's Day and of course the thought that comes to mind when we think about today is love. What is love? It is more than a feeling. It is more than an emotion. It is a action of sacrifice. I hope today you will think about what love truly means. There will be many gifts, cards, candies, and words of affection given all across the country, but the true act of love is shown in one person. Jesus Christ! He loved each of us so much, that he would send his only son so that we could have life. This is the true essence of love: Sacrifice.

What does a vision produce?
The blog I posted January 27th talked about some of the enemies when it comes to having a vision. The three enemies were distraction, discouragement, and doubt. I want to go back to that topic and talk about the three things a vision should produce. After hearing these things from Pastor Stone at FCA, I thought they were so applicable in my life so I wanted to share them with you.
A vision should produce 3 things:
1. Focus
2. Fence
3. Fire
In our lives, our vision should give us a focus that can't be messed with. In order to achieve something, I believe you have to see it first. Then comes a fence. A fence keeps things out and it also keeps things inside. As a result, when we have a vision we have to learn to keep certain things out that may hinder us from our vision, and we have to allow certain things in that will propel us towards our vision. Lastly, we have to have a fire. A fire within us should be evident to those around us. That fire within will allow us to continue to work towards our vision!

Take The Time, Tuesday
Well, we are back at it again! It is Tuesday, so we all know what that means. I want you to Take the Time to give your testimony to someone today. That may seem a little forward, but I guarantee you that you have not given your testimony in a long time and for some people, I bet you have never given your testimony to anyone. I would love for you to give it a try today. Take the time to tell someone what God has done in your life and is doing right now. You never know what type of conversation that could start. Sports
I hope all of you had a great weekend and enjoyed the Super Bowl last night! I had the opportunity to do a Disciple Now for Mount Vernon church, and I also had the opportunity to talk at Forrest Baptist Church during halftime of the game. It was a busy weekend, but I had a blast. I heard over 100 million people watched the game last night, and I started to think about the role sports plays in society. I love football as much if not more than most people I know, but I also know sports are only a part of life. Actually, a very small part of life. What I love about sports are the lessons it can teach in life. Discipline. Determination. Responsibility. Perseverance. All of these words come to my mind when I think about sports and what it offers. Although I believe sports can offer many benefits to the participants, as well as the spectators, I believe there are quite a few limitations as well. Because sport has taken such a big role in society, the athletes are looked at as objects rather than people. I think we have to be careful when we think of sports and where they fit in our lives. Is it the number one priority? The same guys that are on tv, in newspapers, and in magazines, are the same guys that will eventually have to get a job and become a regular "ole Joe" one day. I want you to think about the role sports plays in your life or maybe the lives of your children.

I learned that last semester, so I thought I would share it with you since I have experienced that before. Anyways, think about your life. How are you spending it? Will your life mean something whenever you are gone? We all choose to spend our lives certain ways and that is totally up to us. I used to hate reading and I have always felt that way but last month I picked up a book titled Walk On. After I read it, I felt like I had accomplished something. As a result, I chose to read another one. Then, another one. I finished my fourth book last night and that is where today's quote comes from. The title of the book is The Dream Giver. I challenge you to find your dream. Once you have found it; pursue it. While your pursue it; you will be changed!

Look Around
I hope you all had a great weekend. I was able to go down to Mobile, AL for the weekend and watch the Senior Bowl. Pernell McPhee, Chris White, KJ Wright, and Derek Sherrod all did extremely well as they represented the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a great way! I was proud of all of them, and I wish them the best in their next steps toward NFL careers. I was also able to spend time with two of my friends that mean so much to me, and that was a blessing as well!

We all get caught up in going through the motions sometimes in our lives. Our schedules are set up each day and most of the time they are from sun up until sun down. I want you to think about trying to slow a few things down in your life and look around wherever you may be. Life is such a precious gift that we often take for granted. If you have kids, I think you understand how fast time flies. I have a little brother and sister, and I can say that I see how fast time goes as well. Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday
I hope you all have had a great week! I am looking forward to the weekend because I am going to see my boys play in the Senior bowl down in Mobile. Please pray for the guys that will be playing! It is the end of the week and it is Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday as well. I hope you have participated in the previous ones. If you have any stories that you would like to share, feel free to send them to the email listed below. I have had some awesome emails come in so far, and I would love to hear from you! I want you to tell each person in your family you love them today! I want you to use the words I Love You! When was the last time you told your mom, dad, husband, wife, son, daughter, or other family member how much you loved them? Can You See Your Vision?
In FCA Tuesday night, I heard a great message on having a vision, and I wanted to share a few things I heard with you!
There are 3 enemies to having a vision:
1. Distractions
2. Discouragement
3. Doubt
Many times in life we have distractions that arise and they take our mind and our focus off of our initial vision! Those distractions come in different ways. Sometimes the distractions are caused by other people, situations, or even ourselves. Don't allow distractions to ruin your vision. Discouragement is another enemy that can come in and make you lose your vision. There are some days when I feel like I just can't do things because discouragement comes in. We have to be careful because discouragement can cause a loss of focus as well, and that is why we need others to encourage us and we need to encourage others! The last enemy is doubt. Does that ever come into your life? Maybe with a relationship, a career, a decision, or maybe you doubt yourself. Satan uses this tactic to distract us from our vision just like he did in the garden with Eve! Don't lose your vision because of doubt. Regain that vision today because you can if you will choose to do so.

Ignite

I think this quote says so much in so little words. As I look back in my life, I have come into contact with so many people that have had so many dreams and goals, yet they never did anything other than talk about them. I talk with guys and girls all the time, and they tell me they wish they could do this or they want to do that. I find myself in that same position a lot of times. I say things, but I don't do anything about it. The only person that stops things from happening a lot of times is you. Becoming inspired happens to different people in different ways. For some, it comes through another person. For others, it comes through reading something. For me, it comes through Jesus Christ! Each one of us has something within us that is more powerful than we could ever think. What would have happened if Alexander Graham Bell had let his thoughts remain dormant? What about Martin Luther King? Billy Graham? Thomas Edison? And most importantly Jesus Christ? Having a thought is one thing. Putting those thoughts into action is another!

Take The Time, Tuesday
Well, it's that time again. Take The Time, Tuesday that is. I want you to take the time to pray for someone today that you may not have a good relationship with. Maybe it is a person that has done you wrong, hurt your feelings, or you just simply don't care for them for various reasons. Many times in life it is hard for us to reach out to people as it is, but especially people that we may have unsolved problems with. The other day, a guy came up to me and said he needed to tell me something. I asked him what it was that he felt he needed to share and this is what he said:
"Tyson, I wanted to let you know that I have wanted to tell you this for a little while now. I said some things about you to people that I knew were wrong, but I chose to do it anyways. You may not have ever heard those things, but I felt that I needed to tell you myself to put my mind at ease. I hope you will forgive me for saying things that were not true."
That is just paraphrased, but did I forgive him? Instantly! Take the time today to pray for someone that you are not on good terms with because you never know what could happen!

Fear
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do! We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Family and Friend Fellowship, Friday
I hope you have all had a great week! I imagine you are glad it is Friday because I know I am. I want to leave you all with a few verses to read and think over for the weekend. As you spend time with your family and friends tonight, and this weekend, read James 1 and discuss it! I am at a place in my life where I am struggling in certain areas and maybe you are too. We need to remember that these tests will only increase our faith if we allow it to do so. Read the chapter for yourself and allow God to speak to you however He chooses to do so. My prayer is that after you read this chapter, you will do as verse 22 says... be DOERS! I am often guilty of hearing the Word and seeing the Word, but I want to put it into action. As we read, expect to be changed! I challenge us all to begin being DOERS!

Tyson's 10
When I played football, I relied on the guys on my team every play of every game! There are 11 people on the football field at one time, and without the other 10 guys, I would not be able to do a thing. The offensive line is the most important thing about an offense, and I know that more than most! Fans see the quarterback, running back, and wide receivers because they are the ones that are making the plays, but the offensive line is the glue that holds things together! In saying that, I want to thank all of my big boys that have ever blocked for me and let you know I couldn't do it without you. As a result of understanding that it took 10 other guys to help me achieve my goals and pursue my dreams, I thought "Tyson's 10" would be something I started that let you know a little about me. Righteous When Removed
I hope you were able to participate in yesterday's blog, and I hope it was a great day for you! I was able to call a friend of mine from Junior College and we were able to catch up with one another since it had been a while since we last talked. Have you ever wondered why people go down certain paths? Why people make certain decisions? Why people do some of the things they do? I know there are times in my life when I think those things in my mind. So, if we both think those things, what can we do to change that? Thinking about those things is not necessarily a bad thing, it is what we do after we have thought about it that means something. Many times, it is easy to be righteous or perfect when we are not in a situation. For example, if a person makes a bad decision or does something wrong in our eyes, we immediately think to ourselves "what is wrong with that person" or "have they lost their mind" and many other thoughts have come to my mind as well. But, one thing I have found is if we will all take the time to put ourselves in the shoes or lives of another person, we are able to identify with them and understand them on a deeper level. We may not completely understand the situation, the decision, or what happened, but at least by putting ourselves in their shoes, we allow ourselves the opportunity to be more sympathetic and understanding. It is easy for us to say what we would do or what someone else should do, but what if it were really you at that moment? Would you still feel the same? I challenge you to put yourself in the shoes of others and see how it helps you view life. Being righteous is easy when we are removed from a situation, but what if we are in it?

Take The Time, Tuesday
I hope everyone enjoyed Martin Luther King Holiday and reflected on the person he was and the impact he had and still has in the world today. It is yet again, Take The Time Tuesday. I want you to Take The Time to call a friend that you have not talked to in a long time. Many of us get so caught up in our busy lives, we just don't have time to catch up with some of the people that have been important in our lives. Maybe it is a friend from high school, a buddy from camp, a neighbor that moved off, or a relative that you haven't talked to in a while. Take the time today and give them a call, write them a letter, or send them an email and let them know you were thinking about them! It would not only make their day better, but it would make yours as well!
